Melasma

This is also referred to as Chloasma. It is characterised by hyperpigmented lesions in an even distribution bilaterally in the forehead, cheeks, upper lip, nose and occasionally the chin. It can be due to a number of causes including pregnancy, use of hormones such as HRT or combined pill, skin lightening medications and hypothyroidism. It is exacerbated by sun exposure. This causes more visible hyperpigmentation and is abnormal pigmentation in the deeper layers of the skin.
 
 

Treatments:

There are a number of treatment options. Cosmeceuticals-this usually involves prescription products.

Treatment Costs:

  1. Cosmeceuticals: Various.
  2. Glycolic Acid Peels: €65.00 per treatment. It is recommended 5-6 treatments 2-3 weeks apart. (Course of 6 is €300.00.)
  3. Microneedling: €200.00 per treatment. It is recommended to have treatments 2-3 weeks apart. (Course of 3 is €550.00.)
  4. Zo 3 Step Stimulation Peel: €200.00 repeat every 6 weeks until desired result achieved.
  5. Perfect Peel: €250 euro per treatment. It is recommended to have treatments 4 weeks apart. (Course of 3 is €600.00.)
    The number of treatments for was patient depends on the severity of the acne.
